Grandpa Pete and Me by Donna Lee Murphy

It’s Grandpa Pete and me again, all snug in grandpa’s chair.
We’ve settled in to read our book ~ we’re quite the cozy pair.

Our bookmark points to Chapter 2, we’re back in “Wonderland.”
(You folks who do not like to read just wouldn’t understand.)

We’ve tumbled down a rabbit hole, saw Alice eat some cake.
I’m loving Chapter 2. I hear she cries a salty lake!

But, sadly, I must stop (and just as Alice starts to weep).
I power down my laptop ~ Grandpa Pete is fast asleep.

From Say Goodnight to Illiteracy

Half Price Books has been supporting literacy since its founding in 1972. We sponsored our first Bedtime Storybook Contest, open to writers of all ages, in 1994. Through the years we have received entries from some of the most talented, undiscovered writers in the country. Each year, the Bedtime Storybook Contest is greeted with great enthusiasm. We appreciate our customers’ continued support of this contest, and would like to thank the writers, illustrators, and judges for their time and dedication.
